The Gospel of Jesus Christ is one of hope and compassion. We are commanded to become perfect as our Father in Heaven is, but we are not expected to reach this goal in our mortal years. Because of our "infancy" in spiritual growth, Jesus Christ made the necessary sacrifice so our sins could be forgiven us. He is waiting for us to accept the gift he has paid for and let Him forgive us. He wants us to be happy and His commandments are not rules to limit our enjoyment of this life, but rather, guides to help us achieve that which will bring the most happiness.
